Iowa Drone Laws

Weaponized drones are strictly prohibited
Cannot use drones for surveillance without consent
Agricultural drone operations have specific guidelines
Flying near correctional facilities is prohibited

Privacy Laws

Iowa Code 727.2A addresses drone surveillance and privacy concerns.

Penalties

Weaponized drone: aggravated misdemeanor. Surveillance violations: serious misdemeanor.

Note: In addition to state penalties, federal FAA penalties may also apply. Civil penalties for FAA violations can reach $27,500, and criminal penalties can include fines up to $250,000 and imprisonment.
