Louisiana Drone Laws

Illegal to use drones for surveillance of individuals or private property without consent
Cannot fly drones over critical infrastructure including petrochemical facilities
Prohibited from flying over sporting events and large gatherings
Special restrictions near offshore oil platforms and ports

Privacy Laws

Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:337 specifically addresses drone surveillance and voyeurism.

Penalties

First offense: fine up to $500. Subsequent offenses: up to $1,000 and/or 6 months imprisonment.

Note: In addition to state penalties, federal FAA penalties may also apply. Civil penalties for FAA violations can reach $27,500, and criminal penalties can include fines up to $250,000 and imprisonment.
